Save the lives of marginalised people in India who do not have access to medical support
All around us in India today, we hear of death. We feel panic. We hear people struggling for breath. Many of these deaths could have been avoided- if only people had taken simple health measures.
The crux of the problem is that so many still are not wearing masks. This is both because of carelessness and ignorance, as also because of poverty. During the Covid lockdown last year, more than a 100 million people in India lost their jobs. Nearly 35 million still have no jobs. Many of these people are poor migrant labourers who have lost their livelihoods. They are struggling to make ends meet during this crisis. And simply don’t and can’t afford masks and other simple protective measures that can prevent them from contacting COVID.
And when one member of a family suffering from a weak and debilitating economic background contacts COVID, they continue to live with their family without wearing any protective gear. And whole families and communities contact COVID. And what we see is death.
We can avoid these deaths. We can save lives.
This pandemic is a wake-up call to humanity. It calls for a deeper reflection by every one of us, upon the impact we are making on the planet.
We all must play our sacred responsibility towards the well-being of our planet. Lokaa Foundation holds a vision to save 1000000 lives by providing Covid Safety Kits to the underprivileged sections of people in rural India. This life-saving kit provides anti-viral masks, face shields, steam vaporizers, and essentials such as vitamin D, vitamin B, vitamin C, and Zincovit for people who are diagnosed as being Covid positive in all the 1000 villages that the foundation has embraced around Ekam.
We are initiating Bless India – help save a 100000 lives project in the 1000 villages. The population of these villages is around 5 million.
Can you do your best to save these lives that can indeed be saved if all of us came together?
You may contribute for 1 kit, 10 kits, 100 kits, 1000 kits. A lifesaver kit costs only $10 or 750 rupees. You may also donate large amounts for this life-saving mission.
About Lokaa Foundation
LOKAA FOUNDATION is a Charitable Foundation created by Lokaa – a young singer, songwriter, student and a change maker along with her parents Sri Preethaji & Sri Krishnaji (co-creators of Ekam) to serve the needy in rural India.
Lokaa visited an orphanage in India at the age of 7 and seeing so many children without parents; all hungry for love deeply saddened and touched her heart. She knew no one would celebrate them like the way her parents do for her, no one would care if they felt lonely or angry and try to make them happy. She wanted to do something to make a difference in their lives. She wanted to give those sad children a secure future so that they would never struggle for their basic needs and live with dignity. Therefore, she along with her friends raised funds to support the education of 100 kids and completed their first project in four years.
When Lokaa was 13 she visited Indian rural villages met with children in their pre-teens with bright smiles though they were living in run-down huts that had next to nothing in them. Lokaa wanted to do something for them, and this is when her second vision to create sustainable world villages emerged.
She has taken up 5 extremely backward villages around Ekam Kshetra, a divine temple 80kms off Tirupati in Chittoor district. These villages have almost no infrastructure and have endured suppression for centuries owing to their caste. Lokaa’s vision for her world villages has been “Human being first, infrastructure next”. A project that begins with teaching meditation, chanting, wisdom teachings, cultivating skills, and instilling will-power to discover and voice their views. She then takes the support of young people all over the world to create the village from the scratch with brand new homes, their own community learning center, roads, rainwater harvesting pits, proper drainage system, organic community agriculture farm, and their own village cottage industry to provide an opportunity for the women of the village to become self-sufficient. Santoshpuram is the first of her world villages. As she completes 5 of these world villages, she would like to showcase them to the government of India and work hand in hand with the government to create many such villages in the future.
This project can be a phenomenal inspiration to the youth of India to participate and create change for the underprivileged sections of society. There may be many new emerging villages built with government funding, but this project is unique in that the foundation has focused on building the human potential of the tribe’s people before we initiated the project and continue to focus on it even after the village has been created.
